Themes here resonate with To Pimp A Butterfly, though I'd argue that this album rings around Kendrick more than the aforementioned work. Kendrick as usual dives deep into his thoughts, imagining conversations and scenarios, as most prominent in the vivid description of Kendrick's fascination of Judgement Day on untitled 01, or the conversation with people from different races around the world on untitled 03. Songs here allow us to dig deeper into Kendrick's state of mind during the album production period. Yet, despite similar stylistic routes to his 2015, CLASSIC CD, MASTERPIECE BABYYYYY, this album is able to form its own eerie and personal identity. Even with the high caliber Kendrick Lamar holds, this 2016 compilation is often overlooked, being perceived as just a "B-Side album". Untitled unmastered is generally considered as one of the most underrated albums of the 2010s Hip-Hop scene.
